Tioman Scuba Diving- The Best Dive Sites at Tioman Island

Tioman Scuba Diving: The Best Dive Sites at Tioman Island

Pualau Tioman is a small island located off the coast of Malaysia and one of the most popular spots for scuba diving in Malaysia. There are several Tioman scuba diving schools in the area that offer visitors the chance to receive their license for a small fee. At the school, you will learn about diving safety, how to use your gear, and how to successfully complete a dive.

Once you have your license, you can visit any of the diving spots around the island. It can be difficult to decide which Tioman diving excursions to take from the more than 20 dive sites available. Here are three of the best dive sites to help narrow your decision.

Marine Park

The Tioman scuba dive site at Marine Park has eight wrecks of varying depths, which makes it a good option if you have people of different skill levels participating in Tioman diving excursions. The wrecks range from 12 meters to 30 meters below the surface and are all connected, so it is easy to find your way around once you descend.

The wrecks were once illegal fishing trawlers, but are now a colorful, vibrant underground world full of marine life. You will see schools of batfish, beginning right when you descend below the water’s surface. You will see coral, fusiliers, and trevallies living in the wrecks.

Renggis

Renggis is a popular Tioman scuba dive site because of the diverse amount of marine life you can see. This gorgeous reef has many different types of coral, both soft and hard. It also has many species of fish living in it, such as angelfish, puffer fish, sting rays, and much more. Rengiss is also known for being one of the best places for seeing turtles and black tip reef sharks.

This dive is excellent for divers of all levels because it is only 5 to 18 meters deep. Many schools actually use it for training and night dives.

Sawadee Wreck and Pirate Reef

Those who want their Tioman diving excursions to be about the deep dives should visit the Sawadee Wreck and Pirate Reef. This is the deepest dive in the Tioman Island area and is often used for deep dive training. There are two wrecks here, with both hard and soft coral.

Many types of marine life can be seen here, such as kingfish, boxfish, lionfish, and puffer fish. Some divers have spotted stone fish and octopuses in one of the wrecks.
